BEVERLY HOLISTIC HEALTH

ACUPUNCTURE is based on the assumption that energy (Qi) moves through channels in the body and connects the internal organs with the body’s surface. If the flow of energy is balanced, the individual enjoys good health. If something interrupts this flow however, various problems, including pain, can result. By inserting hair-thin needles into specific points on the body, the acupuncturist can restore proper energy flow, and, as a result, good health. Acupuncture is holistic in the sense that the underlying cause of a problem is always treated, not just the symptom.
For most patients, the insertion of these slender needles goes unnoticed. Occasionally a small pinch, followed by a sensation of warmth or heaviness is felt. Once the needles are inserted, they remain in place from ten to thirty minutes. A feeling of relaxation and mood elevation generally accompany treatment. Most patients are pleased to find that the sessions are comfortable, relaxing and therapeutic. Relief may be experienced after only one treatment, or after a series of treatments.
To support the acupuncture therapy, herbs may be recommended, as well as suggestions for specific lifestyle changes, dietary changes and exercises. All needles are sterile, for single use, and are disposable.
Completely safe, acupuncture has no known negative side-effects.
THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE Found in all major civilizations, massage uses hands-on therapy to promote the body’s own healing powers. It is a technique that utilizes a combination of oils and lotions to manipulate the soft tissue of the body. Massage is beneficial in treating a wide range of conditions including muscle spasms and pain, soreness from injury, muscular back pain and headaches.
Massage works to relieve pain in a number of ways:
By promoting muscle relaxation
By increasing lymphatic circulation to aid in reducing inflammation
By breaking up scar tissue and adhesions
By promoting blood flow through the muscles
Additionally, a massage can increase circulation, improve flexibility, facilitate the healing process, promote healthy skin and restore a calm mind and feeling of well being.
FOOT REFLEXOLOGY Reflexology is much more than just a good foot massage. By applying varying amounts of pressure to specific points on the soles of the feet, the reflexologist promotes overall health and deep relaxation as well as enhancing the body’s ability to heal itself. Additionally, reflexology helps with immune function, increases circulation, helps to reduce muscle tension, and can ease headaches and PMS.
